I'm really in the mood to listen to some podcasts. I blame The Boy for this fact since he was listening to the Freakonomics podcast earlier. Unfortunately I really don't know where to go looking for some good ones. Anyone have any suggestions for any good fandom related ones? My preference is something panfandom and is somewhat lighthearted (meaning: none too social justice-y. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just not my cup of tea), but I'll give a look to fandom specific ones too.

Otherwise life goes on. I finally got around to cleaning up all of the cat stuff :-(. I'm still finding the odd toy here and there, which I'm dutifully gathering into a box to ship out to Fort Mac. Luckily from the sounds of things the cats are settling in quite nicely with their owner, and he's ecstatic to have them back. The Boy and I are already talking about adopting a couple of cats in the future, but not immediately. We're thinking that once we both have new jobs and a new place to live we'll go for it.

Speaking of jobs... The Boy had an interview on Wednesday with an energy company. Apparently the interview felt more like an interrogation and he doesn't think that he'll be hearing from them, but he's said that before about most of his job interviews including the ones he actually got so I'm holding out hope. If he gets it then he'll be shipping off to Germany for training, which would be awesome for him. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him.

As for me... ugh, I'm more than ready to leave my job. Unfortunately not a lot of places around Halifax are hiring, but I'm still holding out hope. At this point I'll take just about anything that will offer me more than twelve hours a week. Damnit boss, I can't live off of that! Urg.

Blah, too much negativity. On the bright side, there's Pathfinder tonight. I had to miss it last week due to just being too damn exhausted after work, but apparently there was yet another player death. Luckily I haven't died yet, but I've come close. So yay for my little rogue!

Last night ended up being surprisingly subdued. We had dinner, then we all started a bunch of games all over the apartment. I ended up getting my ass kicked in Settlers of Catan, but it was still fun. We also ended up watching Saw 2 for some reason. Ugh, bad movie. I usually have a high tolerance for gore, but that was just too much for me.

Today I'm trying to finish up that fic before we head out to a New Year's party. I'm a little over 1500 words now and I'm at the point where I think I can start to wrap it up. I might even get around to editing it a little before leaving, but I probably won't be able to actually post it until tomorrow. That's a little disappointing, but it's better than letting loose a rough draft. If I can at least get the rough draft finished today I'll be happy.

Anyway, off to finish that and see what the new challenges are on Steam. Hopefully there's at least one I can do before the whole promotion is over.

Trying cross-posting one more time. I think I have it right this time.

Today I managed to write about 1200 words worth of fic. It's not bad, but I am sort of worried that it might be kinda boring. It's just a little friendshippy one-shot for New Year's, but I still want it to be entertaining. Hm... well, I'll worry about that once I actually finish writing it and start with editing.

Tonight I think we're going to go and hang out with our D&D group. I don't know if D&D is in the cards for tonight, though. We'll see what happens. Only thing I know for sure is that I'm not planning on drinking a lot; I'm saving that for tomorrow. I cannot drink heavily two nights in a row, there's just no way. Either way it should prove to be a good time.

Anyway, let's see if this cross-post will work properly this time. Here's hoping!

Going to give this cross-posting thing another try. Hopefully a link to my DW will appear at the bottom of the post this time, so we'll see if that works.

I really should be cleaning the apartment today, but I doubt that that's going to happen. I managed to snag the first Tomb Raider game for three bucks on Steam, so once that finishes installing I'll probably be playing that. Otherwise I'll be playing Morrowind and probably writing fic. I also want to watch the BBC Sherlock series, but I don't know if that's going to happen or not.

Last night we started watched Star Trek: Generations. It's always been one of my favourite Star Trek movies, if only because it's the first one I remember seeing as a kid. It's also really making me want to rewatch the original series, but I find that I can only really take it in small doses, though I do love it.

Bah, and I just realized that I need to go out and buy more milk. It's raining outside and I don't wanna!

Christmas was fairly quiet for me this year. The Boy and I went to see my dad again this year. We couldn't stay for very long, but it was long enough to see my dad and visit Rachel and her family. We ended up spending most of the time sleeping and watching the Doctor Who marathon. As for the present haul I got a disappearing TARDIS coffee mug, a few shirts, a neat leather-bound notebook, a sushi set, and a bag full of socks which I desperately needed.

Now I have to get this apartment cleaned by Friday and get ready for New Year's. Our D&D and Rogue Trader groups are coming together for a big party. Luckily I don't have to worry about work that weekend so I can actually stay up late and recover from any resulting hangover.

Otherwise I really want to do a New Year's fic of some kind. I have a Lupin III fic bouncing around in my head, so maybe I'll start working on that tonight.

Now, let's try this cross-posting thingy. Here's hoping that it works!
